Sydney is not one market
Tree work here changes character every few suburbs. The council rule book changes, the soil changes from sandstone to shale, the species change with it, and the way a truck gets to the tree changes most of all. These region pages set out what is specific to each area.
The regions
Inner West — Inner West Council, Burwood, Strathfield and Canada Bay. Terrace and semi housing on shale, camphor laurels and jacarandas, and side gates under a metre wide.
Eastern Suburbs — Woollahra, Waverley, Randwick and Bayside. Strict tree controls, coastal salt exposure, heritage figs and some of the tightest streets in the city.
North Shore — Ku-ring-gai, Willoughby, Lane Cove, Hunters Hill, Mosman and Hornsby. The strictest councils in NSW, enormous blue gums and blackbutts, and gully blocks that fall away behind the house.
Northern Beaches — Northern Beaches Council from Manly to Palm Beach. Sandstone escarpment, salt-laden wind, bushfire interface and the 10/50 entitlement.
Hills District — The Hills Shire and parts of Hornsby. Acreage, battle-axe blocks, long driveways and large remnant eucalypts left standing through subdivision.
Western Sydney — Penrith, Blacktown, Parramatta, Cumberland and the lower Blue Mountains at Springwood. Reactive clay, extreme summer heat and more permissive tree controls.
South West Sydney — Liverpool, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Canterbury-Bankstown. Cumberland Plain woodland remnants, broad blocks and heavy shale.
Sutherland Shire — Sutherland Shire Council from Cronulla to Menai. Sandstone, Georges River bushland edges, coastal exposure and strong bushfire overlays.

Frequently asked questions
Do you charge more to travel to outer suburbs?
Travel is built into the quote rather than added as a line item, and it matters most for small jobs. A single small tree at Penrith or Springwood costs proportionally more to service than the same tree in Ashfield, simply because of the drive. Combining jobs or coordinating with neighbours is the practical fix.
My suburb is not listed. Do you still cover it?
Probably. The region pages group suburbs rather than listing every one of them, and the footprint runs from the lower Blue Mountains to the coast and from Hornsby to Campbelltown. Ring with your postcode and we will tell you straight away whether a crew works there regularly.
Why does the advice differ so much between regions?
Because the councils, soils and housing stock differ. A removal in Ku-ring-gai is mostly a permit problem. The same tree in Penrith is mostly a scheduling problem. A sandstone gully block on the North Shore is an access problem, and an Inner West terrace is a completely different access problem. The tree is often the easy part.
